My name is Evelina and I was born and bred in Bulgaria. I moved to London in 2001 to look for better life and personal expansion. In the years that followed my life was a defined by the struggles of raising a child, juggling between building a career as a Structural Engineer and house work, then going through the pains of separation and being a single mum.

Somewhere in between all this I found Yoga. It gave me everything I was missing in my life – calm, stability, energy, connection. I immediately knew that Yoga was my path and felt a strong urge to pursue it on a deeper level and become a teacher. The practice of Yoga started changing me slowly – physically, mentally, emotionally. It helped me develop qualities such as patience, humility, introspection.

Most importantly, Yoga gave me the courage to make one of the biggest changes in my life – I left my corporate job, got rid of most of my possessions and set on an adventure to the tropical island of Koh Phangan. After spending a year there, learning various trauma releasing practices, ancient eastern teachings and being surrounded by a conscious, open minded community, I returned to London richer than ever.

The reason why I love teaching yoga so much is because of its healing power. If I am able to transmit to my students even a fraction of the magic that yoga blessed me with, then my purpose as a teacher will be fulfilled.

What is my favourite position?
Dancer Pose – This pose combines strength, balance, flexibility, openheartedness and so much more! It is a very challenging pose that I am still working on and it reflects my personality in many ways. I like a challenge! I am strong and purposeful but also love to play and dance.

Name Someone You Admire and Why?
My friend and Yoga teacher Warren Buttery whom I met on Koh Phangan. He had the incredible ability to make me high on yoga. His sequences were simple but worked miracles for the body and mind. After his classes I was blissed out for hours to come. His warm, inclusive and loving energy drew people in; he showed grace and compassion even to those who mistreated him.

What do you do with friends in your spare time?
Yoga! I taught most of my friends and really enjoy sharing my practice with them. Apart from that I love going deep in conversations, cooking tasty, nutritious meals for them, dancing and sharing a glass of wine.
