Meet Laura: Children's Yoga Teacher

May 07, 2025

Hi, I’m Laura. I’ve been practicing yoga for almost as long as I can remember. Growing up, my mum’s best friend was a yoga teacher (and still is!), so I was lucky enough to be introduced to it at a young age. It has been such an important part of my life for so many years that I feel incredibly fortunate to now be able to share the benefits of it with others, as a teacher myself.

I love working with children. They have such great energy and I love how open and genuine they are. Helping them explore ways to get in tune with their bodies and manage their emotions feels really rewarding, and they always seem so keen to learn.

As well as the fun element of learning lots of different shapes and sequences, I’m always amazed at how responsive kids are to the mindfulness side of things - they really soak in the parts that promote confidence, resilience and compassion for others, and I find that really inspiring.

What is on your travel bucket list?

Ahh there are so many places I want to visit but I would love to go to Rio for Carnival… hopefully next year!

What activity instantly calms you?

Well… yoga! And touching grass.

What's your favourite season and why?

Summer, always. Spring and Autumn are really beautiful too, but for me, the longer and warmer the days, the better.

What is your biggest irrational fear?

SPIDERS. But is it even irrational!? I know apparently they’re more scared of me than I am of them, but then tell why they come running at me like that, invading my personal space. No thank you.

What's your favourite board game?

I learnt to play chess recently and despite the fact that I’m really, really bad, for some reason I love playing. I’m yet to win a game but persevering anyway!
