Meet Maria Isabel: Children's Yoga Teacher
Feb 18, 2026
Hi, my name is Maria Isabel. I’m Brazilian and moved to the UK in 2019. I graduated as a
Biology teacher in my home country, but when I first arrived in the UK, I worked in different
career paths while adapting to a new culture and language.
During this time, Yoga and movement became very important in my life. It started simply as a
way of moving, but it soon became a space where I could take care of my mental health, find
balance and reconnect with myself.
As teaching has always been part of who I am, being able to bring together my background
in education with movement and mindfulness felt like a natural path. So I decided to
embrace a new career path and train as a Yoga teacher. I feel very grateful to create spaces
through Yoga where both adults and children feel safe, confident and able to express
themselves while supporting their wellbeing through movement.
What’s your favourite season and why?
Summer is my favorite season. I love the warmth, the light and how alive everything feels.
What’s something that changed your life?
Moving to the UK was a big life change for me. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, helped
me grow, and gave me new perspectives, both personally and professionally.
How has your culture influenced who you are?
Being Brazilian has shaped my love for community, music, dancing and nature. It’s a big part
of my identity and influences the way I connect with people and experience life.
What helps you stay positive?
Movement, staying connected to nature and to the people I love help me stay balanced and
positive, even during challenging times.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I love living in London. I really enjoy the diversity, the different cultures and the energy of the
city. But in the future, I would love to live closer to the beach, so I could go swimming every
day.
