You’re a trained adult yoga teacher but finding it difficult to sustain a living by just teaching in studios and gyms?

You’re looking for a flexible work life balance but struggling to find the right equilibrium?

We’re not saying to drop your yoga teaching in studios but to think outside the box and expand your revenue income as a yoga teacher.

Here are 11 ways you can earn more money teaching yoga.

1. CORPORATE CLASSES

More and more companies are investing in their work  force’s mental and physical well-being. Often many companies add perks or treats to their staff on a weekly or monthly basis. The key here is to target their HR department with 30 min to an hour yoga classes during their lunch breaks, before or after work hours to energise their employees. Corporate companies often have a big budget so don’t be afraid to triple or quadruple your price.

2. PRIVATE YOGA CLASSES

Teaching one to one classes can be overwhelming as your core focus is on the individual however you may be pleasantly surprised by how much you enjoy it. Private one to one classes enable a personal connection and you are able to charge more. We would recommend at least charging £50 an hour and you can factor in your travel time and costs. You can also offer private yoga classes online!

3. RETREATS ABROAD

If you have a big email list and following - this option is great to sell as a high ticket service. Once you’ve sourced your venue, catering services and accommodation, you can sell your retreats abroad as a full package. Plan a year in advance and start promoting your retreats. It is ideal to run retreats during the least busy times of the year e.g. avoid Christmas and Easter holidays as people usually have plans.

4. RETREATS LOCALLY

If you don’t have a email list and following, this is the perfect opportunity to invest and plan a local retreat. This retreat would cost less and you’ll have more control and time to manage it accordingly. This would also attract yogis with a low budget. Find a place away from the city and a maximum of 3-4 hours drive from your city. Stand out from the crowd by introducing a theme.

5. PRE-RECORDED CLASSES

Like Netflix, more and more people are resorting On Demand videos and courses. Something they can press play and watch at their convenience. Consider pre-recording yoga classes or guided meditations people can buy from your website and watch whenever they have time. You can also give away your first video free in return for signing up to your email list.

6. MENTORSHIP

Just like you, people looking to start a career in yoga or have recently graduated are left with no direction on how to book their first client. By providing mentorship programmes you can offer guidance and advice to up and coming yogis and recent graduates. You can charge by the hour or introduce a packaged deal where they can sign up to a 6 week programme. Again, you can also create pre-recorded classes so it runs on auto-pilot.

7. YOUTUBE VIDEOS

Did you know you can monetise your videos on  YouTube? By uploading free content and racking up views, you can easily earn up to $5 per 1,000 video views. However to become monetised you do need to have at least 1,000 subscribers, reach 4,000 valdi public watch hours in the past 12 months, sign and agree to the terms and conditions, have an AdSense Account and get reviewed and approved by YouTube.

8. AFFILIATE LINKS

An affiliate link is a referral link connected to that individual so when a customer clicks and buys from Person A, then they would get an x amount of commission from the sale. Like BEAM ACADEMY, all graduates will receive access to join the affiliate programme and get their very own unique link. By posting your unique link on social media, anyone that signs up then you will receive a commission from this.

9. WRITE A BOOK

If you have a wealth of knowledge about yoga and have discovered a niche that very little to no one is writing about then consider writing a book about this topic. You don’t need to publish with the big companies as self-publishing is becoming extremely easily accessible and very effective. You can pay a graphics designer to design your graphics and front cover. Consider publishing an e-book first to see the level of demand then look into publishing paper copies.

10. YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

You’ve done a course before so you know how much money you can potentially make by delivering yoga teacher training courses. It’s worthwhile becoming accredited as it provides that extra confidence and credibility to the end user. You do need a great deal of marketing and expertise in content creation to really push your courses.

11. EXPAND YOUR YOGA TRAINING

Explore additional yoga training courses to expand your revenue stream. Perhaps a yoga course for children? one for special education needs? prenatal yoga? There is an abundance of yoga courses out there you can do. At BEAM ACADEMY we provide teachers the opportunity to complete an Accredited 40 Hour Children's Yoga Course, 35 Hour Teen Yoga Course and a 30 Hour Mindfulness Course. You can take this knowledge and tools and start teaching in schools and nurseries.

We will be launching a marketing course for teachers - to stay tuned, subscribe to our mailing list below to be the first one to know about it.
