Meet Gosia: Children's Yoga Teacher at BEAM ACADEMYSep 19, 2021
Hi! My name is Gosia Simonowicz
I’ve been studying yoga for the past 4 years and trained to become a teacher 2 years ago.
I honestly love the headstand, because it's a very powerful pose. It took me a long while to learn how to do it, because of my body limitations and also my psychological approach. I think it’s like a superhero pose. Once you’re able to do it, the whole perspective about you changes.
I also like heart-opening asanas, like Matsyasana :).
If you could be anywhere other than here, right this minute, where would you be? (Don’t overthink it!) Judge me if you want, but I’d want to be somewhere on a sunny beach! :D
What are some causes you care about? I’m a big ‘let’s change the world into a better place’ kind of person. I think we have a responsibility to give back what we take. It has to do with the environment, animals, resources but also how we are towards each other. I am a vegetarian, I believe that we should produce and consume less and I also believe in the power of yoga to inspire inner change, open the heart and become a more conscious and loving person.
Who is someone you admire, and why? It’s interesting how we change and develop. Last year, I would have said my yoga teacher, which is probably still true, but I’m in a process of learning and nourishing more self-love. I would like to be at a point in my life where I can truly say that I admire myself. I don’t mean in a selfish way but in a way, which means that I feel fulfilled, whole and just appreciative of life and grateful for who I am.
