Meet Lashay: Children's Yoga Teacher
Apr 10, 2025
I have worked as an early years educator for 8 years following a Montessori ethos in my practice as well as in my own life. I’m a creative who loves to draw , paint, create, write, sing and learn new hobbies. Some would call me a jack of all trades!
I’ve always had a strong passion in making a positive contribution towards children’s development, creating a confident, self assured and nurturing individual who shows care and concern for the environment and those around them.
After 6 rewarding years of working in senior and TA roles across schools and nurseries in London. I decided to adopt a slower, more mindful but adventurous lifestyle and became an early years tutor specialising in Montessori. In return I was able to travel, learn new skills and foster new ideas about how to better my practice as an educator. Through creating more time for myself, I discovered yoga and found it to be one of the most successful, purposeful ways to reset the nervous system, gain physical strength and truly understand the importance of breath work! This made me super passionate about children being aware of their emotions and building healthy relationships with themselves and others. So I decided to become a children’s yoga teacher. Aligning my values and fusing my love of teaching with my love of mindful living. I feel as though I am in the right place in my career.
What's your favourite season and why?
Spring and summer! Anywhere the light touches always gives everyone a dose of happiness. Life is always better in the sun and the plants show off their individual beauty reminding us we all have a place here!
Who or what inspires you in your career?
The children! Watching how curious they are about the world, how imaginative their minds are and their genuine concern for others inspires and reminds me of how important it is to always live in the moment and never stop learning about the endless treasures the world has to offer.
What are your hobbies, and how did you get into them?
Face painting, baking, drawing, writing, long hikes and most recently cycling! I’ve always been a creative person but during Covid I was able to truly discover my creative potentials and exercise has become an imperative habit of mine. Constantly challenging the mind and feeling a sense of self achievement.
Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why? South east Asia! I’ve been fortunate enough to come across a wide range of cultures in my career and South East Asian culture has sparked my curiosity with their yummy food and amazing history
How do you enjoy spending your alone time?
Often exploring a new walking route with my favourite playlist in my ears and seeing parts of London I haven’t discovered before. Or if I’m feeling lazy that day a bowl of chocolate & pistachio kunafa strawberries, a good series and my colouring book!
